From a young age, Fr. Frank Launtrie (1927–2005, ordained 1956) dreamed of foreign missions. In 1961, he helped launch the Basilian apostolate in Mexico in San Juan Crisóstomo Parish, Mexico City (1963–72), and helped develop faith teaching programs for parents and children in the parish of San Lorenzo, Tehuacán, Puebla (1972–77). Known for his kindness and devotion, he helped many encounter God’s love—so much so that one parishioner said his smile still lingers among them.
